# Configuration

|
Tabby maintains its runtime data in `~/.tabby`, with `~/.tabby/config.toml` serving as its configuration file.
|
|
|
|
You can modify the path to the data directory by setting the `TABBY_ROOT` variable. For example:
|
|
|
|

|
export TABBY_ROOT=/data/tabby
|
|
```
|
|
|
|
